IKONO MIDDLE ZONE UNITES:
…. As State House of Assembly Aspirant Consults delegates

"Let your light so shine before men, that they may see your good works, and glorify your Father which is in heaven" - Matt. 5:16

Tuesday the 24th day of July 2018 will forever remain unforgettable in the political history of PDP in Ikono Middle. This day witnessed a great reunion as the entire statutory delegates in the zone met, exchange ideas, wine and dine together as brothers and sisters in the country home of Hon. Sampson Okorie, the Special Adviser to Ikono LGC on Special Duty. This was made possible by our kind-hearted State House of Assembly Aspirant, Engr. Sylvanus Nyauko; a peace lover and Grassroot Mobilizer, as he stopped by the zone to consult all statutory delegates (Chapter Officers, Councilors, Ward Chairmen, Secretaries, Vice Chairmen, Women Leaders and Youth Leaders) and others in the zone. The meeting was well attended by all the delegates except one who sent in his heartfelt apology for his unavoidable absence.

Highlight of the event was the presentation of the State House Member (Hopeful), Engr. Nyauko to his host. In His word, Nsubom Ndifreke Itam, the Special Adviser to Ikono LGC on Political and Legislative Affairs, said, “The name: Engr. S. Nyauko is a household name in Ikono politics given the fact that had contested election in Ikono/Ini Federal Constituency in the past”. Hon. Itam took time to give a humble background information about the august visitor stating that his decision to represent the people of Ikono in this capacity, in a time like this, was not borne out of selfish reason but a deep and conscious desire to serve his people, his communities, the state and the nation at large.

Being a giver in the party PDP, he did not suspend his innate nature of supporting the party and has never been found wanting in his responsibilities to the party. This is evident in the moral and financial supports he gave to the candidates and the party during the December 2017 Local Government Council election which contributed greatly to the overall success of the party in Ikono LGA..

As an accomplished Marine Engineer, whose professionalism is internationally recognised, did not want to stand in again for any elective position given the ugly experiences gathered in the field of politics.  As the saying goes, “there is time for everything under the sun” and we believed that his time is now. A search team was constituted to bring out a candidate with the capacity to take Ikono higher through effective representation and to draw down and circulate the dividend of democracy to the people, the searchlight beamed on him and he accepted the call to service to represent the good people of Ikono in the State House of Assembly come 2019.

In his brief speech, Engr. Nyauko, while applauding the PDP family for taking out time to endorse our Governor, His Excellency,  Deacon Udom Emmanuel and the Distinguished Senator Godswill Akpabio for their second term bid, said he is so much in love with the good vision of Governor Emmanuel for the state and Sen. Akpabio’s uncommon representation at the Senate, promising to joined the rest of Ikono sons and daughters to ensure that the duo return to their respective offices come 2019. In his words, he said , “Governor Udom Emmanuel is one Governor I like, he is one Governor I like his programmes, he is one Governor I believe in, he is one Governor I see his confidence that he knows what he is doing” while stressing that Sen. Godswill achievement at the Senate is second to none in the country. He also used the opportunity to thank Rt. Hon. Victor Udofia, the member representing Ikono State Constituency in the AKHA, saying that he has vindicated himself and has set a high standard as to what true representation should be while looking forward to see more.

Furthermore, While presenting his blueprint, among other things, Engr. Nyauko promises to constitute a committee that will be made up of members from all zones in the LGA to be incharge of development and projects in the LGA. He took his time to talk on politics of inclusiveness. Thereafter, few delegates took turn to appreciate him for his thoughtfulness saying that he is capable.

Responding on behalf of the delegates, Hon. Itoro Okoruen said the emergence of Engr Sylvanus Nyauko and his visit to the zone has brought “unity to the zone”, adding that, “it is a good omen to his person and therefore the delegates in the zone should take this visit serious as his “political dent” is few”. After words of advice from the chief host, Hon. Sampson Okorie, the people wined and dined to their satisfaction.
