July 31, 2018 will forever remain evergreen in the lives of about 19 young ladies and one young man in Iriebe Community in Oyigbo LGA of Rivers State, Nigeria. This will be so as the dreams of these ladies and that of the young man were made real as they graduated in a one year, 100 percent free skill acquisition programme in fashion and designing and their certificates and a free sewing machines handed over to them by the organizers as starter’s pack free of charge (FOC).
The Trustee and Lead Coordinator, Crown Prince Charity Foundation, Mrs. Love Ime while appreciating everyone for honouring their invitation to witness the 8th graduation ceremony of the Centre, pointed out that Crown Prince Charity Foundation, the organizer and sole sponsor of the programme is a Non-Governmental Organization with the mandate of reaching out and creating a platform for the development, empowerment and support of the less privilege. Taking care of the orphans, the widows and assisting the youths to acquire vocational skills while providing a conducive environment for them to develop themselves optimally in order to be good ambassadors of Christ and our dear nation Nigeria.
On when and why the vision was conceived, she stated that it was conceived many years ago as a result of a heavy burden in her husband, the Rev. Ime Akpabio’s heart to support the less-privileged and the indigents in the society. The vision actually stated in 2010 thus making this year’s graduation the 8th.
The highpoint of the event was the corporate prayers made by men of God present at the occasion led by the Rev. Etim Sam, a Presbyter and a Sectional Leader in the Assemblies of God Nigeria, Northern Rivers District. This was swiftly followed by the presentation of their Certificate of Competence and a brand new Sewing Machine to each of the graduands as a starter’s pack.
A graduating student who spoke on behalf of others expressed gratitude to the Almighty God and to the visioner Rev/Mrs. Ime Akpan whom God has used to bless their lives and rekindle their hope in life while adding that throughout their period of learning in the free skill acquisition centre, all learning materials were provided for them free of charge. In her words, “We have never bought anything for learning, everything including sewing needles and thread were given free of charge. Thanks to Rev. and Mrs. Ime” she said.
The joy that was seen in the faces of the beneficiaries knew no bound as they sang, danced and glorified God for his faithfulness upon their life.
Mrs. Love Ime, a Trustee and the Coordinator of Crown Prince Charity Foundation earlier announced that the admission is in progress for the next batch of students in the free skill acquisition centre while noting that the Foundation is intending to do more in this and other areas but is limited by finance.
