Mbaraka Ikono's humility move earned him more Blessings from Ikono Traditional Council

...as he presents Certificate of Return to his people

Famous Alice Walker once wrote, - "Thank You" is the best prayer anyone could say. A word of 'Thank You' can be used to express extreme gratitude, humility or understanding between people.



This was the peculiar scenario as Hon. Asuquo Nana Udo aka Mbakara Ikono, the Member-Elect Ikono State Constituency, presented his Certificate of Return issued to him by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) to Ikono Traditional Rulers Council as a sign of humility and appreciation at the palace of the Paramount Ruler of Ikono, His Royal Majesty, Edidem Nyong Obop.

His Royal Majesty Obop, who treated  Hon. Nana's delegation to an arousing reception, in his palace at Ibiaku Ntok Okpo, thanked the Member-Elect for coming back home to say 'thank you' to his people, noted that such move shows the quality and manner of leadership he will bring to his people.

The Ikono Paramount  Ruler while receiving the Certificate of Return from Hon. Asuquo Nana prayed for more blessings and the wisdom of God to bring effective representation to Ikono people. His words, "Hon. Asuquo Nana Udo came here some months ago on consultation visit, we gave him our fatherly blessings, then God honoured our blessings and made him victorious."

"On behalf of Ikono Traditional Rulers Council, I His Royal Majesty, Edidem Nyong Obop, the paramount ruler of Ikono LGA have received this Certificate of Return of honor with gladness and bless you with the wisdom of God and that of the Land of Ntippe Ibibio to go and speak for Ikono people."

The Clan Head of Ndiya, Etebom Godswill Okon Udosang, appreciated Hon Asuquo Nana for the honour bestowed upon the traditional institution of Ikono. He noted that the people have never had it good in terms of situations where an elected member from the area comes back to show appreciation to the Traditional Council or hosting them before being sworn into office.

Etebom Udosang, while expressing excitement on the success and victory of Hon. Nana in the election described the member-elect as a role model for young leaders who aspire to hold elective offices.

He expressed optimism that with the qualities of Hon Asuquo Nana, Ikono people will enjoy impactful leadership and representation while he serve in the Akwa Ibom State House of Assembly

The Ndiya Clan Head assured Hon. Nana that Ikono Traditional Rulers Council through their collective effort, resolved to support him in every capacity to ensure the growth of Ikono is achieved plus bringing dividend of good governance to all facet of Ikono community.

Also, Etiedung Ubah, the Village Head of Nkwot Ikot Nseyen in his address appreciated Hon Asuquo  Nana "Mbakara Ikono" for what he described as 'rare leadership traits' and love for his people. He prayed God to endue him with more wisdom and the capacity to speak for the people effectively.

Other traditional Chiefs  who spoke at the event includes: the village head of Ukpom, Eteidung Etok and that of Mbio-Oku Ikot Abasi, Eteidung Okon Udo Ekpo.

In their joint admonition, the Council advised Mbakara Ikono to harp more on effective representation for his people by making sure he speaks and protects the interest of the Ikono people and to always remember where he hails from.

In his response, the member elect for Ikono State constituency, Hon Asuquo Nana reassured the Traditional body that his early promise during electioneering campaigns will be upheld tenaciously to ensure development, quality representation and growth will  becomes the hallmark for Ikono while he serves.
