IBOM POWER: THE POWER REVOLUTION UNDER GOV. UDOM EMMANUEL

By Edikan David

In decades before the emergence of Gov. Udom Emmanuel governor of Akwa Ibom State in 2015, the major problem that the populace in Akwa Ibom State faced was power and life was unbearable.

In the last three years of his superlative performance, he believes that if there is no power the industries that he has brought to the state will not thrive, investors won't come in, small scale businesses won't survive, cost of living will be high and unbearable to the populace, so he said let there be light, and there was LIGHT.

Do you know that the Ibom Power plant that has the motto "Energy To Grow" being the prime driver of "Power For All" Akwa Ibom is has been able to keep the record of over 20hrs unprecedented power supply in Uyo and others local governments like Ikot Abasi, where the governor has cleared a backlog of more than 10yrs electricity fee debt which made the community to be disconnected from the National Grid and as restored power to the area with the installations of power transformers after paying the debt and making sure that the community is being connected back to the National Electricity Grid.
The Ibom Power Plant under the administration of Gov. Udom Emmanuel has been able to generate power uninterruptably for over 198 days and that is the secret behind the uninterrupted power we are experiencing in the State and the power plant also have over 115megawatts capacity available.

Do you know that the Ibom Power Plant has over 685megawatts Expansion License and that is why the power generated under the administration of Gov. Udom Emmanuel is sustainable because the governor thinks about the future. The most important and interesting part of the Ibom Power Plant that makes Gov. Udom Emmanuel the best  choice and most preferred for Akwa Ibom State is that he always comes out the best in every thing he ventures into, the Ibom Power Plant is and has been certified for being 100% safety compliance and is key in every sector.

In his continuous drive to make sure that the vision of his "Power For All" Akwa Ibom is actualized, the governor also initiated the construction of sub- stations at least two per senatorial district to ease the transportation of power and distribution, like the one we have at four lanes in Uyo and many others scattered all over the state, and that is still the reason why Ibom Power Plant is being rated the best in Nigeria and Africa.

For record purposes, it should be noted that under the administration of Gov. Udom Emmanuel, the Ibom Power Plant successfully hosted the 25th Power Sector Stakeholders Meeting, and Mr. Babatunde Fashola, the immediate past governor of Lagos State and the minister incharge of Power and Housing acknowledged that Ibom Power Plant understands the power sector very well and that is the reason they have been able to generate power more than any other State in the federation.
It should also be noted that in 2017 the Ibom Power Plant was Honoured by the African Quality Institute as the Africa's Most Innovative Power Generation Service Provider. And in the same year the National Electricity Regulatory Commission (NERC) awarded Ibom Power Plant the Cleanest And Safest Power Company In Nigeria, and all of this are courtesy of Gov. Udom Emmanuel through is drive to get Akwa Ibom working.

Just last year, the Ibom Power Plant became the First Nigerian Power Company to present a paper at the GE Frame 9E 2017 conference, and it was exceptional.

Gov. Udom Emmanuel remains the most active governor in the history of Akwa Ibom State and his selfless deeds will not be forgotten in a hurry, he has redefined leadership and has shown dexterity in all his hand finds to do, and it is quite commendable, I now see why he is called Mr. INTEGRITY.
